Technical Difficulties Mar Xbox Live Video Marketplace Launch News

Creeping downloads, incorrect content, and "a very unpleasant experience" hits the start of TV/movie distribution over Xbox Live...
Earlier in the week, US-based Xbox 360 gamers were able to download the likes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, NCIS, and a range of movies over Xbox Live for the first time - but it seems that it hasn't quite gone to plan.
Speaking on his blog, Xbox Live's Director of Programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb confirmed that technical difficulties had emerged, leaving some gamers experience extremely sluggish download speeds, or even different content to what they actually purchased. Admitting that the past day had been "...a very unpleasant experience for our members...", Hyrb reassured that there had been progress made in fixing the different issues hindering the launch of the service.
Technical difficulties nonetheless, the fact is that the Video Marketplace would be the first opportunity for many Xbox 360 gamers in the UK to view HD-quality shows - so when can we expect to get a piece of the action ourselves? Microsoft representatives have re-iterated the current position, stating that:
"Beginning November 22nd, the first wave of full-length TV and movie content launches in the U.S. on Xbox Live Marketplace. We are also working with content partners in other regions, but don't have any news to announce at this time."
So something is happening, but exactly when Xbox 360 gamers on this side of the Atlantic will be able to enjoy the full functions of Video Marketplace is still unknown. Let's just hope that the troubleshooting across the pond means that the service will offer a smooth service when it does arrive in Europe.
