Sony confirms a release date for its multi-lingual PSP translator, therefore PSP microphone impending...
First demonstrated during 2004 and serving as an indicator of the multiple possible uses for the PSP, Sony today confirmed a Japanese release date for Talkman.
Talkman is essentially a translator that accepts verbal input via a microphone and translates them into the language of your choosing. Described last year as âsoftware that makes conversing with people throughout the world possibleâ, the application could play an important role if Sony plans to take the PSP online and enable gamers from across the globe to compete against each other.
Naturally thereâs a variety of loosely based âgamesâ tied around the experience, however itâs going to require a microphone which again opens up exciting possibilities for future PSP titles. Whether or not the newfound ability to communicate with the PSP will open up the possbility of acting as a mobile phone remains to be seen, but it's certainly something Sony has talked about in the past.
Talkman is scheduled for a Japanese release on November 17th, although naturally with the PSP only a few short hours away from a European launch thereâs no indicator as to when or even if we might see this on European shores.
