Codemasters confirm a date for its eagerly awaited follow-up, providing the largest scope in a racer to date...
Codemasters today confirmed a February 2006 release for the hugely anticipated Playstation2, Xbox and PC racer, TOCA Race Driver 3.
With over 100 individual championships taking place across 35 different racing disciplines including GT, Off Road, Touring Cars, Historic, Open Wheel, Rally and Oval, TOCA Race Driver 3 provides a greater scope than any other racing title and should reinforce the series amongst motorsport purists.
Amongst the comprehensive vehicle line-up TOCA Race Driver 3 features some of the greatest cars that have competed in F1, from the modern-day BMW Williams F! Team car through to Damon Hillās FW18 of the 1990ās; Nelson Piquetās classic FW11b of the 80ās, the Lotus 49 of the 60ās right back to the Mercedes-Benz W25 Silver Arrow of the 30ās.
American motorsport fans are catered for with the inclusion of the Dodge Charger, or alternatively the Open-Wheel endurance test with the IndyCar Series cars at Indianapolis. Other key competitions featuring real racecars include Germanyās DTM and Australiaās V8 Supercar series; both based on the 2005 season, complete with car set-upās, practise sessions and qualifying races.
The slightly more extreme can try out the 4x4 Monster Series trucks, with huge, air-filled 1.5m tyres, 4WD steering and low-end torque that provides plenty of wheelie opportunities at the start of the grid. Similarly the Baja Beetles present ample white-knuckle possibilities, racing off-road across dirt tracks and with plenty of jumps to send the cars flying.
The game features over 40 championship circuits, while players are free to match whatever vehicle they choose with particular race locations.
Weāll have further coverage on TOCA Race Driver 3 very soon.
