Ensemble Studios' franchise confirmed for the Nintendo handheld as THQ's relationship with Microsoft continues...
Ensemble Studios may be hard at work on Halo Wars for Xbox 360, but that hasn't stopped Microsoft from once again partnering up with THQ to establish a secondary base of operations on the Nintendo DS, with news that the developer's Age of Empires franchise is heading to the handheld.
Based in the ancient world of gods and monsters, Age of Empires: Mythologies follows in the footsteps of Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise as a Microsoft franchise transplanted onto DS. Taking players through the empire building escapades of the Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and the horned hats of the Norse, Mythologies will give gamers control over the 'divine' powers of the gods, legendary monsters, and all-conquering heroes, with single and multiplayer modes.
"Age of Empires: Mythologies will combine one of the most successful Windows PC franchises of all time with the innovative style and controls of Nintendo DS, bringing a totally unique experience to handheld gamers," said Kevin Kraff, vice president of global brand management, THQ. "With three playable civilizations, a fast-paced combat system and extensive multi-player options, Age of Empires: Mythologies will be one of the must-have tactical strategy games this year."
Age of Empires: Mythologies is due to hit the Nintendo DS in the Autumn.
