The Square-Enix/Disney franchise goes portable on PSP, Nintendo DS...and mobile...
Square-Enix has today confirmed the development of three new instalments to the Kingdom Hearts franchise, set to appear on PSP, Nintendo DS, and mobile. Details are very thin on the ground, though the three titles are confirmed to take place in different time periods within the series, and have different lead characters.
Heading for Nintendo DS is the rather bizarrely named Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 (apparently pronounced three five eight over two), set during the events of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and following the story of Roxas - Sora's nobody and early protagonist in Kingdom Hearts II. Kingdom Hearts: Born by Sleep (easier to say but still difficult to understand) follows Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix's Terra and is planned for release on PSP, whilst Kingdom Hearts: Coded is heading to mobiles and apparently follows the story of King Mickey.
Square-Enix's Tetsuya Nomura previously stated that the next Kingdom Hearts title would be a new series and not simply Kingdom Hearts III - though which one of the three revealed today marks the start of a new side-franchise anyone's guess right now.
