Syphon Filter goes online; as we take a look at the first information and screens recently released.
SCEA recently lifted the lid on the latest title in the popular Syphon filter series. Syphon Filter: Omega Strain will take the series online, allowing players to fight together along with communicating over the USB headset.
The game will contain a fully-fledged single player mode, however the online aspect is built directly on top of this; so players will be able to help each other access previously hidden areas and a variety of other tasks only in the multi-player mode. Sony Bend claim the game will be rich and rewarding for solo players, but the overall experience will be deeper and more rewarding for those with a PS2 Network Adaptor.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is that the main protagonist, Gabriel Logan, wonât be making an appearance in the fourth (and rumoured to be last) game in the series. Instead players will create their own custom characters, in a manner similar to Segaâs âPhantasy star Onlineâ.
Sony Bend are promising over 100 different weapons for inclusion in the final game, whilst a range of new moves have been added to the repertoire such as being able to pick up and hide dead bodies.
SCEE have yet to make any announcement regarding Syphon Filter: Omega Strain in Europe, however we expect a lot more information to filter through soonâ¦
