The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences recently announced that they have honoured Yu Suzuki with the coveted Hall of Fame award. Will Wright the winner of the award in 2002 will present the award to Suzuki at the D.I.C.E summit at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on February 27th.<br><br>Yu Suzuki joins a rich reign of previous winners of the award; Will Wright of Maxis (SimCity, The Sims, The Sims Online). Other past winners include 2001's winner John Carmack (DOOM, Quake); 2000's winner Hironobu Sakaguchi (Final Fantasy); 1999's winner Sid Meier (Civilization, Railroad Tycoon); and 1998's winner Shigeru Miyamoto (Pikman, Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda,Mario). <br><br>Widely recognised as one of forefathers of videogames, Suzuki’s titles have included Outrun, Hang-On, Space Harrier, Virtua Fighter and Shenmue to name just a few. It’s fair to say that this award is rightly deserved, to this extent we salute you Suzuki-san.<br><br>"Yu Suzuki joins an impressive roster of game creators who have won this award for their leadership and innovation," said Paul Provenzano, President of AIAS.
