On Day 2 of their 'Road to E3' SEGA confirms their first title for Nintendo's next-gen console...
Following yesterday's confirmation of Virtua Tennis 3, SEGA has today announced the development of their very first title for Nintendo's Revolution in the form of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz.
Once again following the adventures of AiAi and his friends, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz will not only take advantage of the Revolution's unique controller, but the primates will also be given the power of jumping - which can be achieved by flicking the controller upwards. According to SEGA the ability to jump has allowed for the development team to create a fresher approach to the game.
As well as the single-player missions, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz will of course feature a number of Party Games that'll also take advantage of the Revolution's controller, including Ring Toss and Whack-a-Mole.
Announcing the game Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. said "The Nintendo Revolution presents a totally unique avenue for our developers to explore the art of game design...Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz will present a mind-boggling array of gameplay innovations that will excite and challenge gamers while pushing the boundaries of imagination forward."
The prospect of controlling AiAi through the various levels with the Revolution's controller is sure to excite fans of the series, not to mention the idea of a virtual whack-a-mole. Banana Blitz could be the perfect title to show off exactly what the controller can do in terms of adding to a gaming experience.
Currently in development at SEGA Studios, we'll have more from Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz shortly...
