By Jon Wilcox on 27/06/2008 505 Games confirms the classic table top football game for Nintendo's handheld...With the final match of Euro 2008 kicking off this weekend, what better time for 505 Games to announce the development of Subbuteo for Nintendo DS?
The UK publisher has today confirmed the Subbuteo videogame, with the final finger-flicking release due on the platform in September. Using a classic flick control system together with a range of tournaments and leagues on offer, Subbuteo certainly sounds like a more traditional alternative to the likes of EA and Konami's football offerings later in the year!
Gamers will also be able to challenge others online thanks to Subbuteo DS' Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection functionality.
"Subbuteo is an all-time classic and only the Nintendo DS could bring to life the touch and feel of the beautiful game in such an entertaining and engaging way," commented Ian Howe, Managing Director, 505 Games. "The huge DS market will also allow us to take Subbuteo to the entire family, in much the same way we all first played the game when we were young."
Perhaps the development of Subbuteo will mark a resurgence of other nostalgic ways to pass the time? Next up, Meccano DS!
