13% increase in sales and upward revisions for future quarters highlight continued success for Ubisoft...
Ubisoft has today announced its financial results for the first half and second quarter of the 2006/07 fiscal year, which ended on September 30th 2006.
Sales in the first half of 2006/07 stood at 172 million Euros (£115.3 million), up 13% on the year, whilst second quarter sales reached 102 million Euros (£68.4 million) down 7% compared to the same period in 2005/06. Incidentally, second quarter sales were confirmed as outperforming expectations from earlier in 2006 by 24 million Euros (£16.1 million). The publisher announced that this was due to sales not included in the initial report.
Citing the diveristh of their releases, their distribution network, a resurgent US market, and the success of Ghost Recon's Chapter 2 content on Xbox Live Marketplace (150,000 downloads), Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft said, "Ubisoft achieved a strong first semester, exceeding our first expectations by 25%."
Ubisoft anticipates revenues of approximately 270 million Euros (£181.0 million) in the third quarter of the fiscal year, thanks to a strong line-up including Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, and seven titles for the launch of Nintendo Wii in December.
As a result of its expectations, Ubisoft has also increased its forecasts for the 2006/07 and 2007/08 fiscal years, with growth of between 8% and 12% by the end of March 2007 and up to 25% by the end of the following fiscal year in March 2008.
News of the results were made alongside confirmation of a follow-up to Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and an announcement that a further seven titles would be released for Nintendo Wii by the publisher before the end of the fiscal year in March 2007.
