Capcom commits to Steam and becomes the first Japanese publisher on Valve's books...
Joining an already comprehensive line-up of global game publishers to independent development outfits, Capcom today confirmed plans to move its popular PC titles on to Valve's Steam distribution platform.
The announcement signifies the first major Japanese software publisher to sign up with Steam, and will host an initial selection of Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition, Onimusha 3, Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions and Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.
"Capcom is a worldwide leader in development and publishing of action adventure titles," said Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve. "This initial set of Capcom titles coming to Steam, as well as those coming at a later date, are a perfect fit for the millions of action gaming fans connecting to Steam each week."
"With the PC market becoming a larger part of our business, we're naturally focusing our attention on digital distribution," said Mark Beaumont, executive vice president, officer, Capcom American and European consumer software publishing. "Steam is the right place for us to go with our titles. Valve has created a huge installed base of gamers who naturally fit with the profiles of the titles that Capcom develops."
