Bethesda Softworks boldly confirms the development of the next instalment of Star Trek, travelling at Warp Factor 8 onto Wii and PlayStation2 this 'holiday'...
Bethesda Softworks has today confirmed the development of Star Trek Conquest, an action-strategy title set in the heart of the Next Generation era (though ironically it won't be appearing on PS3 or Xbox 360). Pencilled in for release in the run up Christmas - during the slightly ambiguous 'holiday' season - Conquest will be the first Star Trek title to appear on Wii.
With the objective to take over the entire galaxy, players will be able to choose to achieve their goal as one of several races including Klingon, Romulan, Dominion, and the Federation (what, no Borg???). Building up the necessary resources to launch an effective attack, gamers will then be able to switch to more action-orientated gameplay, using the nunchuk to control the direction of the starship, and the Wii remote to aim and fire at adversaries.
The iconic franchise has already made one appearance in the next generation, Star Trek Legacy, which appeared at the end of 2006 on Xbox 360 and PC.
