Children of Mana

In ages past, an island called Illusia floated at the center of the world. At the heart of the island towered an ancient, enormous tree that stretched up to the very heavens. For ages past, chaos and sorrow had engulfed the world until at last its salvation appeared in the form of a boy, a girl, and a holy sword. Time flowed on and peace returned. The sword and the tree remained, and they soon came to be known as the Sword of Mana and the Mana Tree.

Mana producer reveals the eagerly-awaited DS title is in the hands of a third-party...

The merest mention of Seiken Densetsu is often enough to send even the most seasoned gamer into a nostalgic outpour, so itâs a little surprising to learn that the forthcoming Children of Mana is not being handled by Square Enix.

Part of the âWorld of Manaâ project announced earlier in the year the DS title is currently in the hands of Nex Entertainment, as series producer Kouichi Ishii revealed in the latest issue of Nintendo Dream.

The article claims that the decision to farm out the license was the core value behind the World of Mana project; using different development teams to share their vision of what the Mana universe means to them (John Romeroâs a big fan), Nex Entertainment were chosen based on their previous knowledge of the series.

Nex Entertainment are no strangers to working with respected franchises having handled PS2 and GameCube conversions of Resident Evil: Code Veronica in the past; however an original title in a franchise that many want to see return is something entirely different.
