EyeToy does James Bond, allowing kids up and down the country to terrorise their folks...

With over 3.4 million units sold, itâs fair to say that Europe has officially gone EyeToy crazy; however the fun looks likely to continue, as Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced the development of SpyToy for the Playstation2.

Billed as the ideal companion for budding detectives, wannabe sleuths and aspiring secret agents, SpyToy is unmistakably aimed towards the younger market with its multiple âSurveillance Modesâ. All-new âface-recognitionâ technology allows unique profiles to be created which can only be unlocked by the player, all the while monitoring whoâs going in and out of the room and playing a recorded message to anybody who tries to âborrowâ something.

Helping to catch the unsuspecting victim red handed, SpyToy allows you to record video and audio recordings of the incriminating evidence, along with digital still images thanks to new technology that increases the EyeToy Cameraâs resolution to 640x480.

In addition to the multiple surveillance possibilities, SpyToy features a number of enjoyable mini-games all themed around the world of espionage; players will have to negotiate missions where they need to use a photo-fit, break codes, sky dive, disarm bombs and zoom into locations via satellite to listen in on secret conversations.

SpyToy is scheduled for release later in the year; weâll have a closer look soon...
