NHL and NHLPA agreement grants official names, logos and images for the forthcoming Ice-hockey management simulator…
When Sports Interactive first announced plans to assist in the development and release an Ice Hockey manager simulation, similar to its unbelievably popular Championship Manager series, all thoughts turned to global domination for the UK developer as it targeted a sport more popular to the American market.
That direction took one massive step forwards today, as Sports Interactive and SEGA Europe confirmed that it has secured an agreement with two of the sportâs most influential bodies, the North American-based National Hockey League (NHL) and the National Hockey League Playersâ Association (NHLPA).
As a result the game will now be known as NHL Eastside Hockey Manager, and grants Sports Interactive the right to use all of the official names, logos and images of all teams and players involved in North Americaâs top-flight league.
However despite the new title, NHL Eastside Hockey Manager will represent the entire world of professional hockey, with the game planning to incorporate a total of 20 leagues from across the globe subject to future license agreements â“ including multiple leagues from the US, Canada, Finland, UK, Sweden, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Norway and Slovakia.
"While ice hockey is played and followed throughout the world, the NHL's teams and players are the game's elite," said Miles Jacobson, Managing Director of Sports Interactive. "We feel that these two agreements are crucial in that they will allow us to add the finishing touch of authenticity to what is already an exceptional game, thereby making it a 'must have' for all serious ice hockey fans across the globe."
NHL Eastside Hockey Manager is scheduled for release on PC/Mac in July; weâll have more information soon.
