By Chris Leyton on 10/07/2008 Total War developers working on 360/PS3 RTS that will challenge the consciousness of gamers...In the run up to E3 SEGA today lifted the wraps from one of its new titles, an RTS for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3.
In development at The Creative Assembly (they of Total fame), Stormrise promises to offer RTS fans an "immersive and dramatic twist whilst challenging the consciousness of the gamer" - ooo err.
Offering front line action as opposed to the traditional detached view, players can control units in the air, across rooftops, on the earth's surface and even underground in what SEGA describes as "verticality" introducing multiple layers of gameplay.
"The Creative Assembly have proven their general leadership in developing RTS games through the award winning 'Total War' series" for PC, commented Gary Knight, European Marketing Director, SEGA Europe. "However, Stormrise has been built from the ground up specifically for high def consoles to provide a more intense, frenetic style of game that, coupled with the all new control mechanic, will revolutionise the way RTS games are played."
Following a catastrophic event centuries ago, Stormrise takes place on a bleak and barren earth with the Echelon and Sai battling to survive. Remnants of superior technological people, the Echelon survived the event through self-educed hibernation, whilst the Sai, a more tribal faction, continued to exist by adapting to the new environment.
