Spider-Man looks to have set another record by becoming the fastest selling game on all formats in the US…
The highly acclaimed Spider-Man 2 has given Activision more reason to celebrate after learning that the game has become the fastest selling game in the US. Spider-Man 2 which went straight to No.1 when released within 5 days became the highest selling game across all-formats in the US. Spider-Man 2 also managed to reach the number one spot around the globe including UK and Australia.
Ron Doornink, President and CEO, Activision Publishing said āThe solid launch of the Spider-Man 2 video game is a testament to the quality of the game and interest in the film, which is one of the best reviewed movies of the year, as well as the overall strength of the franchise. The movie has already grossed over $500 million worldwide to date and we expect consumer awareness to broaden as the film continues to open around the world.ā
The success of Spider-Man 2 has set the rumours off suggesting that TreyArch are currently developing a new Spider-Man title, which once again features an open-ended living, breathing city, but uses the comics for inspiration and gives the team more freedom to move away from the creative restraints of a movie tie-in.
