Spector Quits Ion Storm News

Chris Leyton

08/11/2004

Chris Leyton

Following months of speculation, US reports allege that Warren Spector has resigned from his position at Ion Storm but will retain ties with Eidos…

After rumour upon rumour and having recently entered the Golden Joystick âHall of Fameâ at Fridayâs industry event, US reports today confirmed that Warren Spector has left the employment of Eidos and his role as Studio Director at Ion Storm â“ a studio owned by the UK publisher.

Itâs believed that despite the announcement Spector will retain his ties with Ion Storm and Eidos, with a creative consultant role deemed likely on the forthcoming Tomb Raider title currently in progress at Crystal Dynamics, and presumably a similar role in any further developments in the Deus Ex franchise.

The exact reason behind the decision remains questionable at this stage, with suggestions that Spector has chosen to pursue interests outside of the industry; those who watched his video congratulation speech at the Golden Joystick awards ceremony will have been surprised, given that he gave no indication of quitting an industry that he has played a part in forming.

Weâll hopefully have more information soon.

The controls and camera in Tomb Raider Legend are even worse than Tomb Raider AOD. I don't like the analog stick for the caracter movement
