Namco Bandai announces its summer line-up for XBLA and PSN, with Soulcalibur amongst the fray...
Japanese developer-come-publisher, Namco Bandai, has announced its summer line-up of games for Xbox Live and PSN. Most notably, the schedule has revealed that the original Soulcalibur game will be released on Xbox Live Arcade over the summer.
Originally released on SEGA's Dreamcast back in 1999 (as a port from the arcade version), Soulcalibur is one of the most critically acclaimed fighters of all time. Let's just hope that Namco Bandai can avoid the online lag which has crippled other classic fighters over XBLA (i.e. Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting).
Another game that was revealed in Namco Bandai's schedule was Infinitum, which will be released on both XBLA and PSN. By the sounds of things, this is a space based action game where the more things you shoot with your spaceship, the bigger your universe and enemies become - sounds fun! Infinitum is also scheduled for a summer 2008 release.
"Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network give us a unique opportunity to bring old classics and new, unique concepts to our consumers," said Todd Thorson, Director of Marketing and Public Relations of Namco Bandai Games America Inc. "Digital distribution will continue to be an integral part of the company's initiative to bring world class interactive entertainment to fans around the world."
