Yoda and Darth Vader to feature as guest characters in Namco Bandai's Soul Calibur IV...

Namco Bandai and LucasArts have penned a deal which will allow Darth Vader and Yoda to appear as guest characters in Soul Calibur IV. Yoda is set to grace the Xbox 360 version of the game, while Darth Vader will appear on the PS3 title. Presumably this means the PS3 is the darkside and Xbox 360 the lightside...

Due for a summer 2008 release, Soul Calibur IV is set to re-ignite the epic duel between Soul Calibur (the spirit sword) and Soul Edge (the cursed sword). As part of the fifth Soul game from developers Project Soul, character customisations are set to be a standout feature. Players can create fighters to look and move how they wish and then take them online to battle original characters from the game.

Makoto Iwai, Executive Vice President and COO of Namco Bandai Games America Inc., said of the partnership with LucasArts, "It is quite rare that two publishers of this caliber are able to collaborate on this level to create a top notch entertainment experience for next-generation platforms. In the entertainment industry, LucasArts possesses some of the most recognizable characters and franchises in the world. We're thrilled to integrate their historic characters into one of our most treasured brands."

Kevin Kurtz, Director of Marketing at LucasArts, added: "We're very excited to work with Namco Bandai and be a part of their efforts to take Soulcalibur to the next level. Adding our iconic Star Wars characters to Namco Bandai's great game franchise is a match made in heaven, and we think Darth Vader and Yoda will be formidable opponents in the game."

sugar ACE. Absolutely love the game, and I'm a non-gamer. Only bought a PS3 because I was bored.

If you think Dead or Alive was dull you are RIGHT. The whole series is DULL. Mortal Kombat has more moves in it's moves list. As a matter of fact. That series is for non-gamers who play games to see the graphics. Soulcalibur, on the other hand, is fo... [ Read full comment... ]

Man. You guys. Are you guys really gamers. Are you even Soulcalibur fans. This is the exact reason why there are no good games. The people making the games are getting the wrong input from true non-gamers. Soulcalibur 4 will be the best fighting game... [ Read full comment... ]

I'm not bored enough to crawl through this site's archives to see what their position was last batch of tie-ins this franchise produced. I agree with the previous sentiments of these guys making a story out of nothing. The Jar-Jar and Ewok references... [ Read full comment... ]

Oh brother that's ridiculous. If you don't like those characters don't play them and stop trying to come up with a story out of nothing. Lame.
