Rumours from across the pond suggest that the 80GB PlayStation3 isn't the only model on the cards...


Having secured a North American release for the 80GB PlayStation3, it seems that Sony Computer Entertainment America may also be looking to appeal to gamers that feel the current price of the system is too much.

Rumoured in the latest issue of US-based Game Informer, Sony are apparently planning to release a 40GB PlayStation3 for a more affordable $399, a full $100 less than the recently re-adjusted 60GB version - but without any of the backwards compatibility functions.

SCEA are yet to confirm the report (although the magazine expected an announcement at last week's E3-lite), so too their counterparts in Europe, but with the upcoming NPD Group report expected to show a 4:1 sales ratio between Wii and PS3 in the States, such a move wouldn't be too surprising.

i own a ps3. infact i just came off playing it. for methe ps3 is gd for about 1hour, than i get bored and dnt go on it agen until the next day. there is nothing dat can keep me interested in the ps3. the games and pure love e, online always glithche... [ Read full comment... ]

this a good thing over 9 yrs it will happen folk wiil soon tire of wii's and the xbox(which is nearly all shooters, fun 4 a while, but ps3 does more in all ways
