Sony reveals more of the city hub for its Home service, due to grace PSN sometime during 2008...
Sony has recently unveiled further details on Home at a tech show in Monte Carlo. Currently scheduled for release sometime in 2008 on PS3 (via PSN), Home will now have an expanded cinema complex, improved surroundings, and chess/checkers in the town square.
The cinema (which will reportedly be able to offer game and movie trailers at launch) has now been expanded with another floor, as well as a bowling alley (for up to 6 players at a time) and game arcade. It sounds suspiciously like the depressing reality of Milton Keynes' Leisure Planet and will doubtless be filled with 14 year-olds smoking Lucky Strikes.
Sony reportedly intends on using the Home hub to introduce a HD movie rental/purchase service, which will compete with Microsoft's Xbox Live Marketplace.
There's now much more emphasis on outdoor spaces in this newest version of Home, while it's also easier to navigate the environment, lessening the need for a Home A-Z. Sony has even added chess and checkers games in the town square where gamers will be able to socialise. New York's Times Square is one of the many inspirations for these areas.
Home is set to offer PSN users a Second Life-esque hub where they can create their own avatar and decorate their 'Home' within the bustling surroundings of a city filled with other PSN users.
