Sony Slams High PS3 Failure Report News

The boss of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe categorically denies a report by one Dutch website that the 40GB PlayStation 3 has high failure rates...
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has today categorically slammed a report on one Dutch website that claimed the newly launched 40GB suffered from high failure rates.
The whole-hearted denial, led with a strong statement by SCEE boss David Reeves, reveals that systems failures were at a very low level and that the consumer response to the 40GB SKU has been high.
The full statement reads:
"We are very proud of the quality and reliability of PLAYSTATION 3 and are disappointed that such extremely sloppy journalism has resulted in this totally inaccurate story...Since launching the 40GB PS3, we have experienced a fantastic jump in sales and the failure rates have remained at the very low level that we not only strive for, but have been achieving since the launch of PS3."
The critical response by Sony comes just months after Microsoft revealed a three-year warranty on Xbox 360 due to the excessively high failure rate on the original models and the emergence of the 'red ring of death'. The system failures led to the redesigned Zephyr and Falcon motherboards, used in current Xbox 360 models.
