Sony Executives Take To The Merry-Go-Round [Update] News

Kutaragi remains Group CEO as SCEA's Hirai becomes the new SCEI President...
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. has today announced the results of a recent executive reshuffle, which take effect from tomorrow (December 1st).
Ken Kutaragi remains at his post as Group CEO, but has relinquished his position as President to Sony Computer Entertainment America's Kaz Hirai, who also becomes COO for the SCEI Group.
President and COO of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, David Reeves, takes on the role of Deputy President but will retain his position at SCEE. Reeves replaces former Deputy President Akiro Sato, who becomes Group Deputy Chairman.
It's unclear whether this reshuffle has been caused by the numerous issues raised in bringing the PlayStation3 to market in North America and Japan (not forgetting the lengthy delay to the console's release in Europe), but SCEI hopes that the executive team will now be in a position to "...head towards a new generation of computer entertainment."

[Update] SCEA has now confirmed that VP and COO Jack Tretton will be Hirai-san's replacement as President of Sony Computer Entertainment America.
