The clock is counting to Jack's longest day on the PS2...
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has today confirmed that the highly successful TV show 24 will be making its videogame debut in Autumn 2005 exclusively in PlayStation2. Taking place between Series 2 and 3 in the months after the âpoisoned handshakeâ assassination attempt by mysterious would-be killer known as Mandy, 24: The Game has been developed by SCEEâs Cambridge Studios (Primal, Ghost Hunter) with extensive consultancy by the TV showâs makers, 20th Century Fox.
The game should answer many of questions left unanswered by the climactic cliffhanger at the end of Day 2 as well as introducing how various Day 3 characters such as Chloe OâBrien and Chase Edmonds made it to CTU (not to mention the circumstances surrounding Kim Bauerâs appointment to the Counter Terrorist Unit.)
It comes as no surprise to hear the cast of the show have all lent their likenesses to the game as well as recording dialogue, so you can expect to see digitised Eiefer Sutherland, Elisha Cuthbert, and Carlos Bernard running around in multiple screens in a few months time. The gameplay is set to include all of the various aspects that youâd expect by living the life of Jack Bauer including shooting, stealth, driving and sniping, as well as interrogation sequences that certainly look quite interesting.
The preview video that we were able to watch included in-game footage that showed some really good character modelling as well as Los Angeles flyovers â“ music for the game has been written by the showâs composer Sean Callery for that added 24 tension, and the showâs trademark multi-screens also make an appearance.
Various gadgets will be available to use in the game in order to complete various goals including the breaking down of satellite images and decoding uncovered information, although judging from the preview a selection of offensive weapons will also be offered before you go out in the field.
Now weâre massive fans of the show here in TVG Towers, so weâre really looking forward to the game so after watching the sneak preview of the game thanks to SCEE, weâre looking forward to getting our hands on the title in the coming months and weâre especially hoping that 24: The Game will buck the trend of poor TV to game conversions.
