Sony Drops PS3 Sales Expectations News

Just under five million PlayStation 3s are sold in the run up to Christmas as Sony lowers forecast...


Sony Corporation has today revealed that 4.9 million units of PlayStation 3s were sold globally between October 1st and December 31st 2007, lower than sales of Xbox 360 and Wii in same time period for the United States alone.

Despite the figure, the three month period saw the gaming division of the electronics giant experience a sales increase of over 31% compared to the same time the previous year. Sony has confirmed that the reason for the improvement in fortunes is down to PlayStation 3, which has also allowed the Computer Entertainment division to report an operating income compared to a loss the previous year.

In addition, the corporation has revealed that it has lowered its sales expectations of PlayStation 3 for the whole fiscal year, which ends on March 31st, from 11 million to 9.5 million. Forecast sales of PSP have been increased however, from 10 million to 13 million units.

A conference call discussing today's results has already taken place in Japan, with a second English language call set for 1pm GMT. Expect additional details to emerge in just a couple of hours.

Why do people say its ffVII sequel!!! If you read the initial story it says it has nothing to do with ffV11 and its not an RPG!! Chances are there is no big announcement and it was a big joke!!

i think it will be exclusive and iv heard about a new metal gear called Metal Gear 3: Revolver Ocelot and this was in the rumour section of the official uk ps3 magazine it also said if its true expect it also to be announce in the next month ... [ Read full comment... ]

It's Final Fantasy VII sequel. That date is the same time as scheduled Square Enix DKS3713 August 2nd/3rd.
