Sonic looks as though he's making a next-gen comeback and it's looking good this time we assure you...
OK so we might be getting our hopes up a little too much only for them to be cruelly dashed with a Sonic like Spin Attack; for years we've longed for a decent Sonic title but every time the blue hedgehog has managed to disappoint - why Sonic, why Sonic, have you forsaken us?
Still the latest leaked footage from a game going by the title of Sonic Unleashed seems to suggest things could be back on track.
Thankfully realising that full 3D gameplay will never work in a Sonic game, Sonic Unleashed appears to follow the same 2.5D line as Sonic Rivals and its sequel - only this time around there's plenty of next-gen visual splendour to appreciate and most importantly... speed!
We're hoping and pleading that this is legit, certainly the recent listing on the US Patent & Trademark Office seems to suggest that this is the case.
TVG expects official confirmation to follow shortly, but for now it seems Sonic fans can well and truly put the likes of Shadow the Hedgehog and the dreadful Xbox360/PS3 versions to rest.
