THQ announce a handheld conversion of the Crazy Taxi rip-off...
Watch out GBA owners, The Simpsons: Road Rage is heading to your handheld. THQ today announced plans to release the title on July 4th in Europe, however hopes are high that this version will actually surpass the home console versions, which were plagued by bugs and poor collision detection.
Using the SNES Mode 7 technique to create a believable if not amazing recreation of Springfield, the GBA version maintains exactly the same modes, vehicles and characters that featured in the ânext generationâ versions. For those that (fortunately) missed out the first time, âThe Simpsons: Road Rageâ copies everything laid out in Segaâs âCrazy Taxiâ; delivering Springfield citizens to various locations within a gruelling time limit.
The GBA version will include four game modes: Road Rage â“ Pick up passengers and carry them to their requested location and collect the cash, Sunday Drive â“ no time limit nor passengers to carry, Mission Mode â“ Complete up to 10 specific tasks, and finally Head to Head â“ Compete with one of your friends to see who can make the most cash.
In addition youâll be able to pick from 15 different characters, each of which have their own distinct vehicles, however youâll need to unlock 10 of these through the games Mission Mode.
