David Perry confirmed as Producer on Acclaim Games' brutal MMO 2Moons...
Acclaim Games has today confirmed that the founder and former head of Shiny Entertainment, David Perry, has been signed to produce a new MMO called 2Moons.
Following Acclaim's 'free-to-download' business model, 2Moons is based upon a Korean MMO called Dekaron from developer GameHi, and has been given the somewhat ominous tagline, "No mercy for the weak, no pity for the dying, no tears for the slain."
Speaking about his latest project, David Perry said "I've been to Korea twice in the last few months and have met with a lot of very impressive talent...GameHi's Chairman Mike Kim is extremely forward-thinking, and he really wants the Western gamers to experience the unbelievable work his teams do and I'm going to help him do just that."
Perry continued, "Many Asian games just get translated and thrown out on the USA market...Acclaim wanted to change that model. There's a clear need for Western designers to get involved if the games end up here, and so this is a special situation where the original game creator and I have decided to partner on this challenge"
Speaking about his latest 'signing', Acclaim CEO Howard Marks commented, "David is a superstar in the game world and his first MMORPG is going to change the 'game.'"
Perry stepped down as head of Shiny Entertainment (developers of Earthworm Jim and more recently, The Matrix: Path of Neo) within the first few weeks of 2006, hoping that his resignation would help spark a bidding war for the company.
We'll have more news shortly...
