Worrying reports suggest Ryo may never get to avenge his fathers death.
AM2 today announced that the future of the Shenmue series lies in the success of the recently released Shenmue 2 on the Xbox in the US. Originally released in Europe and Japan on the Dreamcast, the American release was scrapped and made an Xbox exclusive.
Whilst the Xbox version doesnāt offer that many improvements upon the Dreamcast original, itās rich story puts others to shame and is well worth checking out if youāve never seen it before. The sequel also improves immeasurably upon the first title, offering a faster pace and several crucial gameplay improvements.
Fans of the series are desperate to find out how Ryoās quest to avenge his father death ends up; like Shenmue before it, Shenmue 2 leaves gamers impatiently waiting for the next adventure.
Even if Shenmue 3 is released, itās looking less and less likely that the entire series will be finished. Originally Shenmue was going to appear across 15 different chapters, with doubt surrounding the third instalment it appears that the epic series may have to be scaled down to a mere shadow of itās intended self.
