Codemasters confirms a mid-December release date for the long awaited Sensible World of Soccer...


Originally planned for release back in the Spring, Codemasters has today confirmed that Sensible World of Soccer will be arriving on Xbox Live Arcade on December 19th.

Featuring 'classic' and updated graphics together with the ability to take the game online with Xbox Live, Sensible World of Soccer had been pushed back as a result of difficulties with implementing network capabilities, leading the development team no choice but to rewrite significant chunks of code.

"We are extremely pleased to announce that SWOS is coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade before Christmas", comments Tim Hodges, Assistant Product Manager. Players are going to have a great holiday playing one of the best known and loved retro classics of all time. The wait has definitely been worthwhile, the online play is a blast and the game looks amazing and we are confident that players both new and old will feel the same way."

Sensible World of Soccer had originally been unveiled at Microsoft's X06 event in Barcelona.

Lets get one thing straight, if you want a realistic football game get pro evo. If you want to relive the long hours spent on SWOS then get this, they are totally different gaming experiences and both fantastic. Just steer clear of FIFA

Its about time that this was released. As for the people comparing this to Fifa and Pro Evo, you are just as well comparing Mario Galaxy with Star Wars : KOTOR, they are both set in space but are completely different games. Its the same with Sensib... [ Read full comment... ]

someone doesn't know a good game when they see one. EA's repetitive rubbish fifa is only competition for the table tennis. How can they call fifa football when the womans world cup is better quality
