New series of hard drives set to support the Xbox 360...
Tucked away in the second half of press release made by hard drive specialists Seagate Technologies comes the news that the company is to supply Microsoft with itās new LD25 series as the hard drives for Xbox 360. The series of drives comes in storage capacities of 20GB, 30GB, and 40GB and has been optimised by Seagate for media streaming, power consumption, and content security.
Corporate Vice-President, Xbox Hardware, Todd Holmdahl said, "The hard drive extends the gaming experience on Xbox 360ā¦From downloading trailers, new game levels, maps, weapons, vehicles, and more to supporting custom playlists in every game and storing video messages from friends, Seagate's LD25 Series 2.5-inch hard drive brings gaming and digital media together for the ultimate entertainment experience."
The extended capacity will be utilised for the downloadable content planned for Xbox 360 including music videos, trailers, and game demos ā“ although the question of whether the hard drives will be shipped as standard with the console has yet to be confirmed by Microsoft, although there are reports suggesting that will be the case.
