Electronic giant confirms a solution capable of playing both formats; could this be heading to the 360...
As the two sides continue to distance themselves in the looming next-gen DVD battle, Samsung has today confirmed that it will develop and produce devices capable of reading both HD-DVD and blu-ray standards.
Speaking to the Financial Times Deutschland, Samsungās Chief Executive Choi Gee Sung claimed that a uniform standard would be the best solution but his company would be working on an integrated solution within the coming year to ease the confusion of consumers.
Whether or not this will have an impact on the world of videogames remains unclear, however Microsoft have stated in the past that they will look at next-gen DVD further down the Xbox 360 life-cycle ā“ a Samsung drive capable of playing both formats anybody???
