Spanish website apologises for implying that a deal had been signed between LucasArts and a German developer…

Ever since the news broke back in March 2004 that LucasArts had canned the sequel to Sam & Max, fans everywhere have been trying to get the development of Sam & Max: Freelance Police out of moth balls.

At the end of last week it seemed that their determination had paid off, when Spanish site Aventura y CIA announced that they had spoken to the CEO of Bad Brain Entertainment, Wolfgang Kierdorf, who had seemingly confirmed that the German developers had won the contract to redevelop the sequel. Today however, the site announced a withdrawal of the story saying that, ââ¦the whole thing was just a misunderstanding. Bad Brain's CEO ultimately wanted to make it clear that negotiations had fallen through andâ¦maybe because we really didn't understand or self-translated correctly, we misinterpreted that negotiations had come to a happy end.â

The site then goes onto to apologise for the misinformation stating that,â We are aware that this has been a serious hit on the integrity and credibility of both Bad Brain Entertainment and our [Aventura y CIA] website, and because of that we want to say to the German company that we are sorry.â

So folks, it seems that the development of the Sam & Max sequel is still at the âcannedâ stage; guess the fans will just have to keep on trying.

Weâll have more shortlyâ¦
