Sam Fisher gets his lucky mitts on a P800 and T637 from Sony-Ericsson in the forthcoming Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow…
Product placement is certainly a big thing within videogames these days, as Ubisoft announced an agreement to feature Sony-Ericsson mobile phones in the forthcoming âSplinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrowâ.
The agreement will see Sam Fisher making use of the new P800 smart phone and the T637 camera phone, as he wages his one-man war against terrorism. Itâs claimed that the phones will be heavily incorporated into the game, and that the player will have to make use of them to complete his missions. Sam Fisher must use an image captured by the T637 to help the NSA identify the leader of a terrorist group, which has taken over a cryogenics lab in Paris in a race against time. The P900 is also used frequently throughout the game to change weapons and communicate with superiors.
In addition Sony-Ericsson will promote âSplinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrowâ through a national online photo contest, offering downloadable demos and a variety of other exclusive goodies.
"The innovative technology featured in the P900 and the T637 made these the perfect devices to add to the intense realism in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell® Tom Clancy's Splinter CellTM, said Dewey Walsh, Product Marketing Director for Sony Ericsson North America. "The Sony Ericsson P900 smartphone is the ultimate complement to help Sam Fisher complete his missions. With its combination of PDA, phone and camera features, it combines the latest and greatest in mobile technology, outfitting our hero with everything needed to combat evil."
"The Tom Clancy Splinter Cell franchise has a strong history of product promotions that have really paid off - with the original game selling more than 5.2 million copies to date," said Jill Steinberg, Ubisoft's Director of Media and Promotions. "More and more brands are beginning to realize that TV viewership is down and that reaching the male 18-34 demographic from all fronts can be achieved by teaming up with a video game publisher. We are pleased to have Sony Ericsson join our group of A-list partners for this unique opportunity."
