The 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing set to arrive on multi-platforms courtesy of SEGA...


In a joint statement with official Olympic videogames licensee ISM, SEGA has today confirmed that it will publish the videogame adaptations of the 2008 Olympic Games, set to be held in Beijing, China. The multi-platform deal, including PC, Mac, consoles, and mobiles, is part of a global partnership that will till 2009.

"We are delighted to be working with SEGA on what will be an historic Olympic Games," said Raymond Goldsmith, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ISM. "SEGA's broad publishing capabilities and rich heritage in video games ensures that consumers worldwide will share a more immersive Olympic experience."

"SEGA is excited to become the publisher for the Official Video Game of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and we are committed to creating innovative content for an unprecedented number of interactive entertainment platforms," said Hisao Oguchi, President and Chief Operating Officer of SEGA. "This project will enable SEGA to further enhance our global entertainment business and drive sales in critical Asian markets like China that offer an extremely high growth potential."

The game will feature a raft of events from the forthcoming Olympics including aquatics (diving and swimming), archery, baseball, basketball, boxing, canoe/kayak, cycling, equestrian, fencing, soccer, gymnastics, handball, field hockey, Judo, modern pentathlon, rowing, sailing, shooting, softball, table tennis, Taekwondo, tennis, triathlon, volleyball, weightlifting, and wrestling.

lol ;s I really hope they have the relay's for this game... 4X100 and 4X400. That would be my favourite event by far :P

I doubt they will have 'create a character' mode, would be good if they did though, the online mode would be fun, 7 players online competing will be great. I hope they have competitions with alot of events for online play and not just choosing what e... [ Read full comment... ]

Yes, i do hope they also have heats, prelims , and such instead of going straight finals, and should have 4x1 and 4x4. Also i hope they have a create a player career type modee to work your way to the olympics.

Yes, please have a 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay on the game, also it would be awesome to have a created player mode to train and work your way to the olympics, almost like the Campus legend mode on NCAA 2008.

PLEASE HAVE THE 4X100 AT LEAST MAYBE A 4X400 IF THAT'S NOT TOO MUCH. ALSO A CREATE A PLAYER MODE THAT INCLUDES VARIOUS TRAINING AND MEETS DURING THE 4 YEARS TO MAKE IT TO THE OLYPICS.

The game will be alot better if there were heats to run, unlike 2004 where you just jumped into the finals.other than that the game should be cool
