The sphere-imprisoned primates set to make a return in the third quarter of 2006...
Originally identified as part of the GameCube line-up for 2006, SEGA has today confirmed that Super Monkey Ball Adventure will also be released on PlayStation2 and PSP during the third quarter of the year. Moving into the platform genre, the monkeys discover new abilities including climbing walls and becoming invisible as they travel across fifty levels in five kingdoms as they bid to end the fighting between the different Monkey Ball lands.
Players will be able to choose between four returning monkeys (Aiai, Meemee, Gongon and Baby) and two brand new characters, Prince and Princess, who've been separated from each other because of the feud. SEGA also confirmed that the PSP version will contain Wi-Fi multiplayer modes and a trading card game.
"Super Monkey Ball Adventure takes the franchise in a new creative direction with a Story Mode and new monkey ball abilities" said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "Now Monkey Ball fans can enjoy the mini games that made the franchise famous as well as adventure through a fresh new world that can only exist in the Monkey Ball universe."
