SEGA Announces Petroglyph Partnership News

Star Wars: Empire at War developers team up with SEGA to produce a new PC based RTS title...
SEGA Europe has today announced a new partnership with Petroglyph, developers of the forthcoming Star Wars RTS, Empire at War. Described as a Modern Military/Sci-Fi themed title, details on the as yet untitled RTS franchise will be released by both companies at a later date.
âSEGA is moving aggressively toward a leadership position in the RTS category and the team at Petroglyph is behind some of the finest games in the genre,â said Simon Jeffery, President and COO, SEGA of America. âWe continue to rebuild SEGA as a leading publisher by collaborating with only the very best developers in North America and Europe.â
âCoincidentally, this deal marks the ten year anniversary of the blockbuster RTS series which most of the Petroglyph team worked on during our time at Westwood Studios,â said Michael Legg, President of Petroglyph. âWe are extremely excited about our partnership with SEGA, as it will enable us to advance the RTS genre while creating fun and exciting experiences for gamers worldwide.â
The news is the latest development in SEGAâs strategy to increase appeal in the Western market, and follows deals with Silicon Knights, Secret Level, Monolith Productions, Pseudo Interactive, and the acquisition of The Creative Assembly.
