Aliens: Colonial Marines will be released for PC and next-gen consoles some time in 2009...
Gearbox's Alien FPS title has been without a full title for over a year now. The game, which will be published by SEGA on PC and next-gen consoles, has now been given the working title of Aliens: Colonial Marines.
Print magazine Game Informer has revealed further details on the game, which is still scheduled for release some time in 2009. Apparently, the FPS game "aims to recapture the tension and desperation of the earlier films." This can only be good news, as Alien and Aliens were obviously the superior movies.
However, it seems that Sega and Gearbox have overlooked a long forgotten FPS game under exactly the same title. Originally scheduled for a 2001 release on PS2, the game from Check Six Studios and EA was cancelled for unknown reasons. It would also have been set in the universe of the infamous movie quadrilogy.
The upcoming issue of Game Informer is also set to feature the next Red Faction game, which is apparently now being called Red Faction: Guerrilla.
There are still no further details on SEGA's parallel Alien title in development, an RPG game from Obsidian which is destined for the same platforms as the FPS during 2009.
