Sony Computer Entertainment announces that the Playstation2 has passed 60million shipments...
Having witnessed Nintendoâs landmark achievement and proud boast of shfting 15million GameBoy Advance units, it was today the turn of Sony Computer Entertainment to take the soapbox.
Confirming what many had already suspected, SCE confirmed that worldwide shipments of the Playstation2 passed the 60million point on September 6th. The figure represents 1.6 times the amount of PSOne units shifted during the same period.
SCE also took the time to boldly announce that it has raised its monthly production to over 3million units in preparation to the run-up to Christmas.
The final breakdown of figures is as follows:
Japan - 14.7million
N.America - 26.42million
Europe - 19.44million
