Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) and Evolution Studios today confirmed that its long-running partnership will continue, with the UK developer continuing to develop titles exclusively for the Playstation2.
The exclusivity deal will see the Rally franchise continue alongside creation of new and original games titles. Phil Harrison, SCEE Executive Vice President Development, commented, âOnce again, SCEE cements an exclusive relationship with one of the worldâs greatest developers.â
He continued, âWeâve enjoyed an unparalleled working relationship with Evolution Studios over the past 4 years and the quality of their work on the WRC franchise can be measured by the millions of loyal fans who love the series. This strategic alliance allows our organisations to work even more closely together as we prepare for the combined challenges of new formats and expanded game design horizons.â
The developer behind the World Rally Championship (WRC) series is currently putting the finishing touches to WRC4, whilst early rumours suggest that bigBig Studios (an offshoot of Evolution Studios) is currently in the initial stages of creating a title for the Sony PSP â“ although we were initially led to believe that the team are developing a character-based PS2 title, so perhaps this has migrated to the PSP.
In addition, Evolution Studios are currently advertising for next-generation positions, suggesting that weâll see the WRC series migrate onto the Playstation3 at some stage.
