SCEE confirm the release of SingStar: Party; adding a host of multiplayer modes and new tunes to the popular sing-em-up…

Having previously been revealed on a leaked Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Winter release list under the moniker of SingStar: Party Tower, SCEE today confirmed the release of an add-on pack to the popular Playstation2 sing-em-up.

SingStar: Party has been deep in development at SCEEâs London Studio and introduces a variety of new songs, ranging from Maroon 5 and Scissor Sisters to all-time classics from The Police and Duran Duran.

SingStar: Party builds upon the concept of the first game, adding a wide variety of multiplayer game modes for between two and eight players. An all-new competitive âDuet Modeâ enables two players to each sing one vocal part of a duet, whilst competing for the highest score.

New âPass the Micâ team games include a range of different challenges, ranging from solo rounds, combined duets, random battles and surprise singer selections, to ensure that everybody has the chance to show off their superlative singing skills or lack of them.

Pass the Mic also introduces a new âShuffle Tokenâ feature, which allows players to spin the carousel again if they have been allocated a song that they donât like.

To coincide with the emphasis being placed on duets, SingStar: Party features many traditional duet hits such as âDonât Go Breaking My Heartâ by Elton John and Kiki Dee; although everything song within the game has been broken into two parts so that it can be sung as a duet if desired.

SingStar: Party once again makes use of London Studioâs innovative EyeToy peripheral, to place players within the game instead of the artistâs video. Players can take their photo using EyeToy, which will then pop-up whenever itâs their turn to sing during the Pass the Mic.

Fans of the first game can take advantage of a special cross-disc compatibility feature that allows them to insert the first SingStar disc at the carousel screen and automatically update their collection with the 30 songs from the original, increasing their SingStar jukebox to 60 songs and also allowing players to sing all of the old songs as duets.
