SCEE Drop PSP Price News

Sony makes the PSP slightly more affordable with a range of Platinum games to match...

With no signs yet of the fabled PSP 2.0, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe must be hoping that connectivity with the PlayStation3 will fuel further demand for the flagging handheld.

Advanced options such as Remote Play allow PSP users to stream content from the PlayStation3 whilst away from home, a luxury that became a little more affordable with confirmation that the PSP will be reduced to £129.99 from May 4th.

Coinciding with the price reduction, SCEE also announced a long-overdue Platinum range for the PSP, initially consisting of Ridge Racer 2, Tekken: Dark Resurrection, KillZone: Liberation, Loco Roco and Moto GP for £14.99 - if you've never sampled the curly delights of Loco Roco, now's the time to do it.

"PSP is unique and is constantly evolving. It offers the widest palette of mobile entertainment, from gaming to video, music, photos and internet," explained Ray Maguire, Managing Director Sony Computer Entertainment UK Limited. "But now the exciting possibility of connecting remotely to PLAYSTATION3 makes PSP more relevant than ever. So what better time to offer a brand new price point, and the launch of five new Platinum titles?"

UMD already dead. Sony has nothing to lose by adding
SD stuff on the Blu-ray discs for PSP viewing.

Sony should have added a 40 or 80 gig internal hard drive like the ipod to the psp instead of making it thinner and lighter! With the extra space it would be
the same size as the Orignal psp but with a hard drive! get the word out maybe they will he... [ Read full comment... ]

JAZZ-1991, what the hell are you talking about? The PSP redesign is 19% slimmer and 33% lighter than the original PSP. The buttons are more responsive, it supports tv out, has twice the RAM. There is no need to make it any smaller, it feels great in ... [ Read full comment... ]
