Activision announce the cancellation of the forthcoming Wolfenstein expansion pack...
Activision and id Software today announced the cancellation of Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, the planned expansion-pack to the popular PC FPS; claiming that the games multiplayer mode will be made available for a free download later in the year, but the single player mode will never see the light of day.
We recently took a look at Enemy Territory; it differed from the original game, by offering a number of AI controlled teammates who assisted in your quest and played more like a squad based shooter.
Id Software issued the following comment:
"Despite a strong effort from talented developers, the single-player portion of the game did not progress as anticipated. Cancelling the release was a difficult decision made in the best interest of the Wolfenstein franchise and fans. However, we remain excited about the progress and direction of Enemy Territory's multiplayer."
