Rockstar Launches Manhunt 2 Appeal News

Six weeks after the BBFC refused to give the sequel a rating, Rockstar begins the process of appeal...
According to reports from UK industry publication MCV, Rockstar Games yesterday lodged an appeal with the Video Appeals Committee (VAC) against the decision by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) not to award Manhunt 2 an age rating.
The BBFC ruled in June that the game should not be sold in the UK, accusing the stealth game of "...unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone." Manhunt 2 subsequently received an AO Adults Only rating in North America, with further bans in Australia and Ireland, before parent company Take-Two Interactive suspended the release of the game pending its decision.
The VAC are yet to set a date for the appeal, which will include a demonstration of the game, and arguments from both the BBFC and Rockstar.
In a statement, Rockstar's parent company Take Two Interactive commented: "Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. confirmed today that Rockstar Games has appealed the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) decision that prohibited the release of any version of Manhunt 2 in Britain."
