Strauss Zelnick speaks out against the BBFC's application for a judicial review on a UK release of Manhunt 2...
Take-Two Interactive's Chairman, Strauss Zelnick has today released a statement revealing the publisher's very obvious disappointment to yesterday's news that the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has applied for a judicial review of the Video Appeals Committee (VAC) vote to overturn the ban on Manhunt 2.
Earlier in the month, the VAC voted narrowly in favour of Rockstar Games' appeal against the BBFC's decision not to award the game an age classification - effectively banning Manhunt 2 for a UK release.
In the statement, Zelnick commented:
"We are disappointed that the BBFC has decided to appeal its own Video Appeals Committee's judgment in favor of an 18-plus certificate for Manhunt 2. We believe the VAC decision was correct and do not understand the BBFC's decision to expend further public resources to censor a game that contains content well within the bounds established by the BBFC's 18-plus ratings certification."
It's unclear whether the BBFC will be granted a judicial review, but either way, it looks like gamers here in the UK won't be getting their hands on the tension-filled title anytime soon.
