The suspected Wii version of Rock Band is officially confirmed, while Europe awaits any release at all...

EA's Chief Executive Officer, John Riccitiello, has confirmed that a Wii version of Rock Band is set to join the existing Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PS2 games.

Riccitiello confirmed the "coming launch" of the Wii version in a conference call, reports IGN.

This Wii version has been suspected for a while and rumours were fuelled by recent images of a new microphone for the game. The packaging appeared to list Wii (as well as Xbox 360 and PS3) as one of the consoles it's compatible with.

Europe still awaits the launch of Rock Band, while the American release was last November.

Oh, good. I was hoping we could start seeing additional game discs for this franchise on the PS2 (since we can't do the downloads thing like the 360 or PS3). Love that they've gotten the rights to use Teenage Lobotomy, too!
