Taito classic set for a makeover including an unlockable character from the artist of Harvest Moon...
Rising Starâs strategy of updating and releasing classic games on DS under the âRevolutionâ banner has already seen Space Invaders hitting Nintendoâs handheld, but today the publisher has revealed details of the follow-up title, Bubble Bobble Revolution.
Set for release in October 2005, Bubble Bobble Revolution follows the adventures of Bub and Bob as they try to find some missing friends and will feature a New Age mode to bring the franchise into, well, the ânew ageâ. The levels will be displayed vertically across the DSâ dual screens although the ability to horizontally scroll is also available; perhaps more interesting is the intriguing challenge set to players â“ apparently the game has a âdevilishly mysteriousâ way to achieve 100% completion that has to do with the food-based bonus system â¦
Bubble Bobble Revolution will also include a new Ghost Bubble power-up to accompany the classic Fire, Water, and Lightning Bubbles, a touch-screen mini-game, and an unlockable character designed by Harvest Moon character artist Igusa Matsuyama.
One of the key gameplay elements that also takes advantage of the DSâ features are the microphone activated fans to direct the bubbles through the levels (stand-by for some out of breath players and hyperventilation) and the four-player multiplayer mode for some competitive play. A two-player co-operative mode based on the classic arcade game is also available to play, although single-players can also experience the original title if they wish.
Weâll have more news shortlyâ¦
