Rising Star Games has today announced further details of its Rainbow Islands update for the DS, Rainbow Islands Revolution. With the control system totally reliant on the DS' touch screen, Rising Star has changed the gameplay so that main character (Bub or Bob) now floats on a cloud, controlled by the DS stylus. Casting rainbows is now accomplished drawing them on screen though the length of them are restricted though Rising Star has confirmed that they can be upgraded by collecting various power-ups along the way. The rainbows have also been evolved to trap enemies, depending on the amount of rainbow power.

Harvest Moon artist Igusa Matsuyama has been brought in to design the new sprites of both Bob/Bub and the enemies, though they retain their distinct feel of the original 1980s classic.
