Aussie report suggests that an updated PlayStation3 could hit store shelves within 18 months...
Now that Microsoft has launched its Xbox 360 Elite in North America, attention seems to be turning towards what Sony's next move could be, with reports from Australia suggesting that a new model could be released within the next 18 months.
Dubbed "PlayStation4" by Aussie-based SmartHouse, this apparent update would see changes made to the disc-bay and come with a suite of software that would allow TV and movie streaming. It's no secret that Sony has plans to launch streaming functionality to the PlayStation3, but adding it to a device with the same hardware and re-dubbing it "PlayStation4" is too far-fetched to even contemplate for an instant.
So what does Sony have to say on today's rumours? Speaking to TVG, one Sony Computer Entertainment representative responded with "We don't comment on rumour or speculation."
